This Privacy Policy explains what personal data ExamPulse collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can exercise your rights. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. What we collect
- Phone number — required for sign-up; identifies your account.
- Name & email (optional) — for personalisation and payment receipts.
- Qualification (10th / 12th / Graduate) — to filter exams you're eligible for.
- Tracked exams — your selection from the 3 active exams.
- Telegram chat ID — saved automatically when you activate Telegram alerts via the bot. We do not see your Telegram username, full name or other Telegram-side data.
- Payment metadata — Razorpay order & payment IDs, subscription dates. We do not store your card number, UPI PIN, or any banking credentials.
- Alert delivery logs — which notifications were sent to you, when, and the result (sent / failed).
We do not collect: Aadhaar, PAN, candidate registration numbers, official portal passwords, photos, signatures, or any document upload. The Service deep-links to official portals; you interact with those portals directly.
2. How we use your data
- Sign you in via SMS OTP.
- Send you the alerts and bot replies you signed up for.
- Process subscription payments.
- Filter content by qualification + tracked exams so you see what's relevant.
- Operate, secure and improve the Service (e.g. detect abuse).
We do not sell your data, do not run third-party advertising on the Service, and do not profile you for purposes unrelated to the Service.
3. Third-party processors
We rely on the following well-established providers (links to their policies):
- Twilio — sends your SMS OTP. Privacy policy
- Telegram — delivers bot messages and channel posts. Privacy policy
- Razorpay — processes payments. Privacy policy
- Neon — hosts our PostgreSQL database (Singapore region). Privacy policy
- Vercel — hosts our web application. Privacy policy
Each is a data processor under our instructions; they may store data outside India. We do not share your data with anyone else without your consent or a legal obligation.
4. Cookies & storage
We use first-party cookies and local storage strictly for authentication (NextAuth session), preferences (theme, view filters) and admin access. We do not use third-party tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.
5. Data retention
- Account data — kept while your account is active.
- Payment records — retained for 7 years to comply with Indian tax / accounting rules.
- Alert delivery logs — retained for 90 days for operational debugging, then deleted.
6. Your rights
You can at any time:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct — update your name, email, qualification, or tracked exams from the dashboard.
- Erase — request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Unsubscribe — reply STOP to the bot to unlink Telegram, or delete your account to stop all communication.

7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Neon, Vercel). Admin access is password-protected and audited. We can't guarantee absolute security; in the unlikely event of a breach affecting your data we will notify you and the relevant authorities within 72 hours.
8. Children
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated via the Telegram bot or the website.
